21 Days Uganda Safari – in detail

Day 1: Arrival at Entebbe international Airport

Upon your arrival at the airport, you will be met and greeted by our company representative/ guide who will brief you about the safari and later transfer you to your hotel; he will communicate to you the time he will be picking you up tomorrow. Day 2: Kampala city tour

After a morning breakfast, you will start your day with take a visit to the Kasubi Tombs a burial place for the Baganda Kings; continue to the Wamala tombs a site of the palace of King Suuna II. visit the national museum, Bahai temple, market places, the Kabaka’s lake, then head to the Namugongo shrines where the Uganda Martyrs were burnt under the orders of King Mwanga for failure to renounce their religion, then have evening narration as you learn about the real history of what happened in Buganda, and many other places if times allows  , after the activity you will be driven back to the lodge/hotel for dinner and an overnight stay at (Budget) Hotel Sajovaro, (mid-range) Cassia Lodge, Boma Guest House, (luxury) Hotel Africana, Serena Hotel

Day 3: Transfer to Murchison falls National Park

After breakfast you will be driven to the north-eastern part of Uganda to the largest and most beautiful national park in Uganda Murchison falls National Park. You will pass via Luweero triangle and Nakasongola, in case you want to track the Rhinos, you will be driven to Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary a home to over 20 white and black rhinos (Rhino tracking costs usd 40 per person). After lunch, continue to the top of the falls an incredible sight, where the water marvels at the Might Nile being forced into a seven meter crevice to thunder 45 meters below in a series of cascades. While here one can appreciate the staggering power with which the Nile crashes through the narrow gap in the escarpment. Day 4: Game drive and Launch cruise

After a cup of coffee you will be driven to the northern part of the park to meet the early risen rushing out from their hideouts. Games expects to see include predators and nocturnal animals like the hartebeests, leopards, leopards, Hyenas, elephants, giraffes, Lions and many birds among others. After this wonderful activity Return back to the lodge for full breakfast and lunch, then in the afternoon you will go for a boat cruise to the bottom of the falls to watch out for other species of animals like Hippos, Crocodiles, Elephants and buffaloes can be seen along the shoreline and also many species of birds that live and feed on the lake like the king fisher, eagle and if lucky you can spot a rare shoebill. Day 5: Transfer to Masindi

Have breakfast to proceed to (Mparo Tombs situated 4km out of Hoima)along the Masindi road, this place was chosen as the capital of Omukama (king) Kabalega of Bunyoro in 1872. After here, visit the Katasiha Fort then have lunch at Africa village guest farm, and later proceed to Hoima where we shall have our dinner and overnight stay at; Masindi Hotel or its equivalent

Day 6: Transfer to fort portal

Take your breakfast to transfer to fort portal reaching in the evening. Diner and overnight stay at Mountains of the moon hotel, or its equivalent

Day 7: Visit the Toro Kingdom

Early morning breakfast and then after, visit the Toro Kingdom, the youngest of Uganda’s traditional kingdoms, ruled-aptly-by the world’s most youthful monarch, not quite four years old when he took the throne in 1995, visit the Karambi Tombs a burial ground for the kings of Toro, then entertainment by the Batoro cultural dancers if interested you can join them in their dances. Dinner and an overnight stay at Mountains of the Moon, or its equivalent

Day 8: Chimpanzee tracking and Nature walk

After breakfast, transfer to the park headquarters in Kanyankyu for briefing before you set off to the forest to begin the search of our closest relatives the chimps. Chimpanzee tracking time is unpredictable however it can go from 1-6 hours since meeting them depends on where they spent their last night from, so a reasonable degree of fitness is needed as well tracking gears like sturdy pair of shoes. Ounce they are met you strictly allowed only one hour with them. Chimps are fabulous fun to watch playing from one to another. In the process of chimp searching other species of primates can be seen like the Colobus monkeys, red tailed monkeys, grey cheeked Mangabeys baboons, civet monkey, among many others and the guide will provide all relative information needed on any forest flora and fauna come across. In the afternoon go for bigodi nature walk or Ndali crater lakes region. Day 6: Drive to Queen Elizabeth National park.

After breakfast you will be driven to Queen Elizabeth National park a home for a wide biodiversity of wildlife. The drive will take you about 4 hours with a scenic drive up to the park and you will arrive in the afternoon for lunch, after you will embark on a two hours launch cruise on the kazinga channel which connects lakes Edward and George, the launch cruise provide an opportunity to watch various species of wildlife that live and feed on the lake including large numbers of hippos, crocodiles while buffaloes and elephants can be spotted along the shoreline and many species of birds if lucky you can even spot the rare shoebill. Day 7: Game drive or Visit Katwe salt Lake

After breakfast, you will be driven to kasenyi area of the park to catch-up with different species of animals that live in the park. Games expects to see include elephant, lion, Leopard, buffalo, waterbuck, warthogs, Uganda Kob, among others, after drive back to the lodge for full breakfast and lunch. After lunch, you will visit Katwe salt lake and get to know how salt is being extracted from this beautiful lake. Or you can go for chimp tracking in the Kyambura George. Day 11: Visit the local communities around Queen Elizabeth national Park

Wake up for a hearty breakfast and then after go for another activity and visit the different local communities around Queen Elizabeth national Park. You will enjoy many things ranging from Village walks with the panoramic view of the park game and lakes, environmentally friendly ways of living. You will have your lunch on the hill surrounded by the bushes as you take the views of Queen Elizabeth National Park and the crater lakes, you will have chance to learn the local activities like, farming. After you will come back to the lodge and later embark on a transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park a home to endagerd mountain gorillas passing through Ishasha sector of the park the famous part known for its tree climbing lions, arrive at the park in the evening. Day 12: Gorilla tracking and Nature walk

Early morning breakfast before you set off to the park headquarters for a short briefing about the dos and don’ts while with gorillas and also gets you to the gorilla group to trek. After the briefing, you will follow the ranger guide deep to the rain tropical forest to begin the activity possibly the most done activity at the park. Trekking the gorillas in the impenetrable forest is a breathtaking experience no one would love to miss. The walks might be arduous so some physical fitness is needed an encounter of a family of gorillas is rewarding, spend an hour with them and be back at the base in time for late lunch. Some gorilla families however are more elusive and tracking can take a full day especially when it’s wet and muddy. Day 13: Community Visits

After breakfast at the lodge, go for a community walk and meet the local people who live near the park, they will entertain you through their cultural songs and dance and if interested join them through their music and dance, they will also explain to you how they have managed to live in the area for over 500 years. After, you will embark on a transfer to Lake Bunyonyi one of the deepest lakes in the world. Dinner and an overnight stay at Bunyonyi overland resort (Luxury) or Bunyonyi overland camp (Budget)

Day 14: Boat ride on Lake Bunyonyi

After breakfast, take a morning boat ride to explore the different islands on the lake, you will spot different species of birds during the boat ride and later return to your lodge for lunch. In the late afternoon, you will visit the nearby communities and interact with them. Day 15: Transfer to Lake Mburo National Park

After breakfast at the lodge, you will be driven to Lake Mburo National Park with a scenic view throughout. You will have your lunch in Mbarara and then after proceed to Lake Mburo national park arriving in the late afternoon. Enjoy your late afternoon boat ride. Dinner andovernight at Lake View Hotel,  Rwonyo tented camp- (budget), Arcadia cottages- (mid-range), Mantana and Mihingo both luxurious.

Day 16: Game drive and launch cruise

After an early morning breakfast, enjoy your half day game drive at the park , games expected to see include Zebras, Antelopes, buffaloes, elephant, giraffe, impala, jackals bushbuck, sitatunga, common duiker, klipspringer among many others. After return back to the lodge for full breakfast and lunch and then after enjoy a boat cruise on the lake for more chance to see other species of animals like hippos, crocodile and many species of birds that live and feed and feed on the lake. Day 17: Transfer to Jinja

After a hearty breakfast, you will be transferred to eastern side of Uganda to Jinja for your whole day exploration; your drive will pass through Mabira forest Uganda’s largest forest and also a scenic drive passing by coffee, Tea and Sugar plantations and the colorful roadside fruit/vegetable markets. The first stopover will be at Mabira Forest Reserve for a forest walk; on your walk your guide will help you spot some of the Reserve’s primates, birds and butterflies. Continue to the source of the Nile the place where the mightiest river on earth begins its majestic journey towards Egypt. You will continue to where we will have your lunch. Afterwards, you will visit the Bujjagali falls where different cultural activities take place like Acrobatic, Dances, waterfalls etc. We will then depart back to Kampala stopping at Ssezibwa Falls a Buganda Heritage site and a place of traditional culture and Knowledge. Dinner and overnight stay at King Fisher hotel, Jinja resort hotel

Day 18: Transfer to Pallisa

After a morning breakfast, you will visit the Kyabazinga of Busoga, get to know the origin of their culture, you will continue eastwards to Pallisa, where we shall be welcomed by the ‘Namadu’ dancer a traditional dance of the Bagwere and later have dinner and overnight at country Inn.

Day 19: Cultural study and later drive to Mbale

Take a morning excursion after breakfast to the beautiful Gogonyo palm garden and Kasodo, have a boat trip on Lake Lemwa, interact with the local fishermen and view how they extract fish from the lake locally then return to the Inn for lunch, with cultural entertainment in the afternoon by the Namwoyo Tongoli group. Day 20: Transfer to Sipi falls in Kapchorwa

Early morning visit to Sipi Falls which is a stunner and arguably the most beautiful waterfall in Uganda. The falls are about 55km north of Mbale, in the foothills of Mt Elgon and not far from the town of Kapchorwa. Not only are the falls spectacular, so too are the views of Mt Elgon above them, and the wide plains of eastern and northern Uganda disappearing into the distance below. There are three levels of falls, but the two upper levels are fairly small compared with the main drop. It is well worth spending a night or two in this peaceful and appealing place. There are some excellent walks on a network of well-maintained local trails, and beautiful scenery in every direction. Dinner and overnight at Mbale resort hotel

Day 21: Departure

Depending on your departure flight, you will take your breakfast at leisure, and later transfer to Entebbe to meet your departure flight back Home.
