Tour Itinerary
Day 1: Airport Pick and Transfer to Volcanoes NP
Our company tour guide will pick you up from airport and drive you to Musanze – district where Volcanoes national park is located. Depending on your arrival time, you will have Kigali city tour where you will tour the genocide memorial sites, the national museum, the local markets, have lunch and drive to Volcanoes. Dinner & Overnight at Mountain Gorilla View Lodge / Volcanoes Lodge ( Luxury), Le Bambou Gorilla Lodge / La Palme (Mid-range), Muhabura Hotel (Basic).
Day 2: Gorilla trekking in PNV – Tour Twin Lakes
Have an early breakfast report to the Ruhengeri park headquarters as early as 7:00am. You will assemble at the park head quarters for a talk about gorilla tracking dos & donts, you will enter the rain forest in search of the mountain gorillas. It is advisable to carry along with you a packed lunch, energy bite and mineral water on this expedition because sometimes tracking can last very long from 1 -6 hours depending on the movement of the gorillas. On locating the gorillas, the experience is so exhilarating and will be well worth the trouble. Spend a maximum of one hour with the gorillas then return to your lodge. In the afternoon if your up for it head out for a tour the twin lake of Burera & Ruhondo. Dinner and overnight at your lodge
Day 3: Golden Monkeys Tracking / Hike Dian Fossey Tomb – Community Walk
After breakfast, you will report to the park headquarters for another briefing before setting off for the Golden monkey trekking in the jungle forest. Return back to your lodge for lunch and in the afternoon, In the afternoon if your up for it head out for a village walk and meet locals who live around the park.
Day 4, Transfer to Lake Kivu
After breakfast, you will transfer to Lake Kivu which is the country’s biggest fresh water in western parts of Rwanda. Upon arriving, you will have refreshments and lunch after which you will undertake a 2-4 hours launch cruise along the Lake. The cruise will provide you with a spectacular view of the Kibuye and Gisenyi towns. Return for dinner and overnight stay at Kivu Sun Hotel /Kivu Serena Hotel (FB)
Day 5, Transfer to Nyanza and Butare
After breakfast, you will transfer to Butare town. En route you will visit the old King’s Palace in Nyanza. Have lunch and later connect to Butare. Visit the National Museum. Dinner and Overnight stay at Hotel Credo (FB)
Day 6, Transfer to Kigali
After breakfast, you will be transferred back to Kigali. Upon reaching the country’s capital, you will go for the short Kigali City tour and visit the Genocide memorial sites, Cultural sites, craft centers and shops and local markets. Dinner and overnight stay at Step Town Motel/Hotel Chezlando or be transferred to the Airport for your flight back home. (Depending on the time of Departure flight)
