Day 1: Arrival and Transfer to Volcanoes National Park
Upon your arrival at Kigali International Airport, our safari guide will be ready to pick you and drive you to Volcanoes National Park in the northern part of Rwanda. And it takes about 2-3 hours journey up to the park, passing through beautiful sceneries and hills through-out. However in case you arrive in time in Kigali, our guide will first take you for a Kigali city tour and visit interesting places in Kigali like the Gisozi genocide memorial site, market places, the national museum among many others, You will have lunch en-route and later Proceed to the foothills of the Mountain Volcanoes that make the magnificent Parc Des Volcanoes which is home to the mountain gorillas. Relax at the lodge as you wait for tomorrow’s most interesting adventurous activity gorilla tracking. Dinner and an overnight stay at Gorilla View lodge, Sabyinyo silver back lodge (Luxury) or Gorilla’s Nest lodge,Mountain Gorilla View Lodge (Midrange) Kinigi gust house, Bushara Island Camp (budget)
Day 2: Gorilla Trekking in Parc Des Volcanoes
This is a great day to see the mountain gorillas of Rwanda, you will wake-up early in the morning for a hearty breakfast to give you energy for gorilla tracking, and then after report to the park headquarters in Kinigi to receive short briefings about the dos and don’ts while with gorillas. Gorilla tracking is time is unpredictable it can go from half to full day looking for these gentle chimps, so you are reminded to come with hiking boots/shoes, long trousers, gloves, water and also some levels of physical fitness is needed. The park itself is a home to many insects, butterflies, birds and other flora and fauna which you might experience during the search of mountain gorillas. It’s great for nature photography. As soon as you find the gorillas, you are allowed one hour with these gentle giants. After the activity return back to the lodge for Dinner and an overnight stay at Gorilla View lodge, Sabyinyo silver back lodge (Luxury) or Gorilla’s Nest lodge,mountain Gorilla View Lodge (Midrange) Kinigi gust house Bushara Island Camp (budget)
Day 3: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
After breakfast, you will be transferred to Uganda Rwanda border, after finalizing with the border crossing requirements; you will precede to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park a home to almost a half of the world’s remaining mountain gorillas, pass via Kisoro or Kabale depending on your gorilla family you will be tracking. The scenery is stunning with beautiful views of the hills and Valleys, Plantations and homesteads, and you will reach the lodge in the late afternoon for lunch. the evening will be reserved for leisure as you get familiar to the environment dinner and an overnight at (Budget): Buhoma Community Bandas, Bwindi View Banda/ (mid-range) Lake Kitandara Lodge, Nkuringo Campsite/ (luxury) Buhoma Lodge, Gorilla Forest Camp, Silverback Lodge, Ruhija Gorilla Lodge.
Day 4: Gorilla tracking.
After breakfast you will report to the ranger station for registration and briefing about the endangered mountain gorillas. The guide will then take you through the bush, pushing your way through the undergrowth, parting thick creepers to track gorillas which take about 3 to 9 hours. You will sit in the forest watch the gorillas communicate with each other; there are about 750 beautiful creatures in Bwindi Impenetrable National park. You will also be able to see other primates like the monkeys, baboons and a variety of bird species. Return to the Lodge for lunch, rest and then have an evening community walk as you interact with the local people as you watch the Batwa community perform songs and dances about their former life in the forest. Return to the lodge of your choice for Dinner and overnight (Budget): Buhoma Community Bandas, Bwindi View Banda/ (mid-range) Lake Kitandara Lodge, Nkuringo Campsite/ (luxury) at Buhoma Lodge, Gorilla Forest Camp, Silverback Lodge, Ruhija Gorilla Lodge.
Day 5: Return to Kigali.
After your early morning breakfast, you will drive back to Uganda rwanda border and later to Kigali after lunch you will connect to the Kigali international airport and catch your departure flight back home if scheduled on the same day.
