This African Wildlife safari adventure will take you to the best un-spoilt safari destinations in Kenya, Uganda and Rwanda. The tour starts from Nairobi Kenya, proceed to Rwanda by air and ends in Kampala Uganda. You will trek gorillas twice in Uganda and Rwanda, take game drives, chimps tracking, excellent birding, boat trips, cultural excursions and city tours in Kigali and Nairobi among other activities
Tour Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival Nairobi – Kenya
Arrival in Kenya, meet our company tour guide at airport, who will welcome you and transfer you to the hotel in Nairobi. Depending on arrival time, you will a city tour in Nairobi.
Day 2: Nairobi – Maasai Mara.
You will have an early rise and pick up from your hotel in Nairobi and drive through the Great Rift Valley to Maasai Mara with lunch and game viewing en-route. Check in at your lodge then proceed for an afternoon game drives in the reserve. You will have dinner and overnight at Mara Sopa Lodge or Similar.
Day 3: Full day in Maasai Mara
Full day game drives on the reserve, from 0830hrs to 1730hrs lunch picnic or back to the lodge for hot lunch and continue with afternoon game viewing, Dinner and Overnight at Mara Sopa Lodge or similar.
Day 4: Maasai Mara – Lake Nakuru National Park
After breakfast at the lodge, drive from Mara to Nakuru with your lunch en-route. Arrive Nakuru Park in the evening in time for a short game viewing before you check in at Lion Hill Lodge for dinner and overnight, FB.
Day 5: Lake Nakuru – Nairobi – Kigali (Rwanda)
Depart Lake Nakuru after breakfast for Nairobi arriving for lunch. Afternoon transfer to the airport for flight to Kigali. Overnight at Kigali Serena Hotel / Hotel des Mille Collines (Luxury), Strippe Hotel Biz (Mid-range).
Day 6: Transfer to Nyungwe National park
Our tour guide will pick you up from your hotel, early morningand set off to Nyungwe forest national park. Dinner and Overnight stay at Nyungwe Forest Lodge ( Luxury), Nyungwe Top View Hotel (Mid-range), Gisakura Guest House (Basic).
Day 7: Chimps Tracking – Canopy walk/nature walk/birding
Early rise for breakfast. Head out to Nyungwe forest headquarters for briefing about tracking chimps. The rangers know the best spots where you can easily track the chimpanzees. As you hike through the forest, you will come across other primates like monkeys, these will excite you as you get closer to the chimpanzees. Birds will be all over and for birdwatchers, this is the best place to be. Getting a chance to see these chimpanzees is breathtaking; you will see them play on trees, rest and feeding. You are allowed to take as many pictures as you can as long as you observe silence. After a wonderful time with the chimpanzees, you return for lunch and rest. In the afternoon, you go for a forest canopy walk or nature walk to see the twin lakes. You will spot different species of birds. Have dinner and overnight at your hotel
Day 8: Transfer from Nyungwe NP – Volcanoes National Park
Have an early at your hotel and your guide will drive you off to Volcanoes National Park. The drive will take you via Lake Kivu were you will have clear views of the water body and take pictures of the beautiful area. Have lunch en route and continue with our interesting drive. Arrive late and check in to your lodge at Mountain Gorilla View Lodge / Volcanoes Lodge ( Luxury), Le Bambou Gorilla Lodge / La Palme (Mid-range), Muhabura Hotel (Basic).
Day 9: First Gorilla Tracking – Tour the Twin Lakes
Have an early breakfast report to the Volcanoes park headquarters as early as 7:30am. After a short drill as regards your expected gorilla tracking conduct is concerned, you will enter the rain forest in search of the mountain gorillas. It is advisable to carry along with you a packed lunch, energy bite and mineral water on this expedition because sometimes tracking can last very long from 1 -6 hours depending on the movement of the gorillas. On locating the gorillas, the experience is so exhilarating and will be well worth the trouble. Spend a maximum of one hour with the gorillas then return to your lodge. In the afternoon if your up for it head out for a tour the twin lake of Burera & Ruhondo. Dinner and overnight at your lodge
Day 10: Golden Monkeys Tracking – Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi
Wake up early for your breakfast, drive to the park headquarters for briefing about the Golden Monkey, now listed as endangered because of their small numbers. Or you can opt to Hike to the Karisoke Gorilla Research Centre which Dian Fossey, the famous primatologist set up. Return to your lodge for lunch and drive off to Uganda crossing the border to Lake Bunyonyi. Dinner at Budget: Arcadia Cottages, Mid-range: Birdnest Resort, Luxury: Heritage Lodge
Day 11: Relax at your Hotel – Boat Ride – Tranfer to Bwindi
Today is a day for relaxing with beautiful relaxing views of the lake Bunyonyi overlooking your accommodation. Later you will have a wonderful boat ride on lake Bunyonyi. Return to your accommodation for luch and depart for Bwindi national park. Dinner and Overnight at Budget: Bakiga Lodge/ Wagtail eco lodge, Mid-range: Gorilla Mist/Nshongi Gorilla resort, Luxury: Gorilla safari lodge/Gorilla resort
Day 12: Second Gorilla tracking in Uganda
Today wakeup early for a quick breakfast and head out for briefing from the guides, set off for the gorilla tracking in the impenetrable forest. All travelers should be assembled at the briefing point by 8.00am. You need to carry packed lunch, drinking water, rain jacket and walking stick will be provided. After briefing, enter the forest to track gorillas, the time taken to find the magnificent primates is unpredictable since it depends on when the gorillas where last seen. If time permits take an afternoon community walk before retiring for dinner at your lodge. Meal plan –Breakfast, lunch &Dinner in accommodations of previous day
Day 13: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National park
In the morning, you will set off to QENP passing via Ishasha sector where you will have game drives to view tree climbing lions, variety of bird species. Reach the park early enough for lunch. In the afternoon, gather at the Kazinga channel for a boat cruise along the channel where you will be rewarded with view of game as Hippos, crocodiles, buffalos, elephants as well as a variety of birds. Dinner and overnight at Budget: Kingfisher Lodge, Mid-range: Enganzi Lodge, Luxury: Mweya safari lodge.
Day 14: Game Drive & Launch Cruise
Today wake up early for your breakfast and then go for game drive with a rewarding opportunity to see wildlife such as Lions, Leopards, Giant Forest Hogs, Cape Buffaloes, Elephants, Defassa Waterbucks, Uganda Kobs, Topis, Bush bucks and many more. Return to your lodge for lunch, enjoy the unique 2-hours launch cruise on Kazinga Channel. This trip will pass through possibly the highest concentration of Hippos and many animals that may be seen drinking at the water’s edge. This launch cruise offers an excellent platform for photography, bird watching and game viewing
Day 15: Transfer to Murchison Falls NP
Early breakfast at our hotel and get ready to drive off to Murchison Falls NP. You will visit the Ziwa Rhino sanctuary to see the Rhinos. You will have lunch Masindi town after which drive to Murchison falls NP entering the park through the Kichumbanyobo gate and upon arrival, you will visit the Top of the falls where the Park derives its name. At the top of the falls, you will see water exploding through a narrow gorge and flows down to become a placid river whose banks are thronged with a variety of animals and bird species. Day 16: Game drive and launch cruise
After breakfast, you will set out for the morning game drive in the Northern sector of the Park. Look out for some of the big Five animals such as Lions, Elephants, Buffaloes and if you are Lucky, you will be able to see Leopards. You will also be able to see animals such as Rothschild giraffe, Warthogs, Waterbucks, Bushbucks and also other Antelopes. Return back for lunch and in the afternoon, experience the 3 hours launch cruise along the Nile. This will get you close to the bottom of the falls and en route, you will be able to see a variety of Hippos, Crocodiles, and a lot of other animals alongside the river banks taking water. If you are lucky, you can also spot the rare shoe bill stork and other variety of bird species in the area. Dinner and overnight
Day 17: Tour Budongo Forest – Transfer to Kampala
After breakfast, cross the river back via Budongo forest having lunch in Masindi. Return to Kampala at leisure. However for those who are interested in chimps trekking there is an opportunity to trek in Kaniyo Pabidi – Budongo Forest in the morning before driving back to Kampala.
